XX Guyana/Brazil Military Intelligence Exchange is under way in Georgetown

The Twentieth Guyana/Brazil Military Intelligence Exchange convened today, August 31, at the Grand Coastal Inn. Leading the Guyana delegation, is Commandant Guyana People’s Militia, Colonel Patrick West, while Commander of the First Jungle Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Algacir Antonio Polsin, is heading the five-member Brazilian team.
The conference is being held under the theme, “Continued Friendship and Partnership towards Enhanced Border Security”. Guyana and Brazil face common challenges to national security and the conference will see Officers from the two militaries discussing common challenges to their border security, with a view of coming up with possible solutions.
The conference also underscores the importance that both nations place on improving military co-operation with each other, as well as continued friendship between the two armies.
The Guyana Defence Force and the Brazilian Armed Forces have enjoyed a fruitful relationship over the years, particularly in the area of training. The Regional Military Exchange is held annually and the host country is rotated.
