Youths excited to Learn 

─ Youths at 2nd Inter-Village Social Cohesion exchange programme

Participants of the second Inter-Village Social Cohesion exchange programme are looking forward to the week of activities planned. Some of the 100 youths from Region Two spoke to the Department of Public Information (DPI).

Fourteen-year-old Johni Walcott plans to use the knowledge to develop his community. “After this camp, I hope to go back to my village and tell people what I learnt so that we can improve Queenstown.”

Andre Thomas who hails from Mainstay said: “I expect to be a better-socialized person and I will go back into my community and teach them what I learnt here.”

Zohisa Harris from Onderneeming said she is looking forward to learning about social cohesion. “I had no idea what it is about and I am happy I am able to learn, meet new people and have fun.”

Nelissa Brandon also expressed similar sentiments about the upcoming week of activities. The 18-year-old said, “I expect to learn a lot of knowledge about social cohesion, meet a lot of new friends and have fun.”

Kimberly Tacoordeen, a guardian, said that the programme is very interesting: “I have good expectations, I do not know what else they have in store for us but so far I am enjoying it and I hope more youths could come out and be more involved in the activities they have planned.”
