F.O.R.C.E graduation 2019
Over thirty-five students graduated from the Foundation for Real Christian Education (F.O.R.C.E) in the village of Victoria during the schools Home Economics Graduation Ceremony last Thursday February 21.
Minister of Communities Ronald Bulkan who delivered the feature address told the gathering that graduations are significant milestones in the life of an individual. He said it represents the successful completion of one phase and opens up possibilities for personal growth and advancement.
Bulkan added that the Ministry of Communities is pleased to be associated with the school’s programme which he noted promotes the empowerment young people. This programme the Minister said is consistent with government’s vision of empowering our citizens from the community level or the bottom-up approach to development.
Minister Bulkan while taking the message of well wishes from President Granger to the graduating class reflected on 2019.02.20 which he noted would have been the 96th birth anniversary of the first Executive President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and Founder Leader of the Peoples National Congress, Linden Forbes Sampson Burnham, who he noted lived a stone’s throw away in the adjoining village. He opined that the Founder Leader would have been pleased at an occasion such as this which promotes self-reliance.
Minister Bulkan reminded those gathered that the policies and programmes under the APNU/AFC Government are underpinned by the principle of the ‘small man being the real man’- a people-centred approach to development. It was this vision that prompted governments efforts to restore functionality to the system of local government he said.
Minister urged the graduating class to strive to achieve the best education whether through academics or vocational training. He added that skills are necessary for the development of communities countrywide.
Bulkan also congratulated and sincerely applauded Principal Desmond Saul of the FORCE institution, noting that it had to be a labour of love to have kept the school open for the past 15 years despite the challenges of funding.
Some thirty-five graduates received certificates in home economics, electrical installation, sewing, welding and motor mechanics.
