Govt assures access to cash grant for persons without a bank account
The government is assuring citizens without bank accounts will still receive their $100,000 cash grant.
Senior Minister in the Office of the President with Responsibility for Finance, Dr Ashni Singh, has reassured eligible Guyanese that alternative arrangements will be made for them
Speaking during an interview on the National Communications Network (NCN) in Berbice on Thursday evening, Dr Singh stated that “nobody will be denied their cash grant on account of the fact that they do not have a bank account”.

He explained that while having a bank account allows for faster and more efficient payments, citizens who are unable to access banking services will still benefit in other ways.
“If you do not have a bank account…we will work out an arrangement and devise a mechanism for you to get your cash grant,” he emphasised.
Citizens are still encouraged to open bank accounts to avoid long lines and multiple visits, but Minister Singh stressed that eligibility, not banking status, determines access to the grant.
