GO-Invest, in collaboration with the Lethem Township, on Sunday, unveiled its first billboard at the Guyana/Brazil border, during the agency’s participation in Lethem Town Week.

Owen Verwey, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GO-Invest told the Department of Public Information (DPI) that this initiative is to promote investment and help facilitate investors on their way forward.

“We have seen quite a lot of interest from Brazil, whether it is mining, forestry, commerce, trade or other activities… And so, the intent is to ensure that people coming from Brazil or through the border are aware of an agency which promotes investment and helps facilitate them, and guides them through the process of choosing and managing their investments in the right ways,” CEO Verwey explained.

The CEO highlighted that the agency is set to launch a similar billboard at the official entry points from Suriname in the coming weeks, to promote its agenda.

Mayor of Lethem, Kerry Jarvis described the initiative as a timely one which will help to promote future investment and stakeholder partnership.

“It is to show that our government is working hand-in-hand with all stakeholders to improve Lethem, not only as a township; the region is inviting all businessmen and women to come on board so that we can help develop our township as a whole,” Jarvis said.

The mayor said the administration will continue to partner with relevant stakeholders to help in the town’s development.

Also present at the ceremony were Maxine Welch-Hendricks, Deputy Mayor of Lethem and Brian Allicock, Regional Chairman among others.
