Preparations for major ICAO Air Transport Meeting on target

– conference will be held at Arthur Chung Conference Centre from November 21-23

– local organising team anticipates some 600 participants from 192 countries

– Sol contributes $1Million towards conference

– maximising economic benefits of aviation in the region, harmonising regional air transport regulatory framework, liberalisation of regional and global air cargo to be discussed at conference

With at least five platinum, gold and silver sponsors on board, preparations for the much-anticipated International Civil Aviation Organisation’s Air Transport meeting slated for November this year is on target.

The conference will be held at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre from November 21-23 under the theme “promoting connectivity for sustainable air transport development.”

Director General of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority, Ret’d. Lieutenant Colonel Egbert Field said preparations are well underway and the local organising team anticipates some 600 participants from 192 countries.

“We have a national organising committee that is made up of individuals from a number of key entities which will be helping us in this preparation.”

The conference is garnering much support and has so far brought on board Caribbean Airlines, Sol Petroleum and Swissport.

Sol today contributed $1Million towards the conference.

Caribbean Airlines’ Head of Marketing, Alicia Cabrerea said the air transport company is thrilled at being part of the conference.

“We were very honoured to be considered as a sponsor. To showcase our commitment, we jumped to the opportunity and we are happy to say that we are a platinum sponsor committed to consistent service”

Among the subjects to be discussed at the November confab are the maximizing the economic benefits of aviation in the region, harmonising regional air transport regulatory framework and the liberalisation of regional and global air cargo.
