President and First Lady ring in 2014 in grand style

Georgetown, GINA, January 1, 2014

 

President Donald Ramotar and First Lady Deolatchmee Ramotar had quite an eventful night as they joined hundreds of Guyanese around the  City to ring the New Year. They first made their way to the Guyana Defence Force’s Base Camp Ayanganna, to witness the fireworks at midnight.

As Commander-in-Chief, he also joined the ranks of the Police Force at Eve Leary in celebrating the start of a new year and made brief stops at a few major night spots in the City before joining his Party comrades at Red House, Kingston.

Making brief remarks at Red House, the President recapped that despite the challenges and difficulties experienced in 2013, there has been a lot of achievements of which every Guyanese should be proud.

The New Year, he said, will not only see similar challenges, but opportunities as well and called on citizens to support his Government to overcome the resistance and complications that lie ahead.

“With your support there is nothing that we cannot achieve for our country… I will work as hard as I can to ensure that we realise the full potential of this country,” the Head of State assured.
