Government meets the people

─ citizens express full confidence in Coalition administration

Citizens Georgetown in and around the Bourda Market area this afternoon were given the opportunity to meet and raise concerns with Ministers Government. This was during a planned walkabout by the administration

Minister of Education Dr. Nicolette Henry, Minister of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs Sydney Allicock, Minister of Social Protection Amna Ally, Minister within the Ministry of Public Health Dr.Karen Cummings and Minister of Business Dominic Gaskin among other government officials were on the ground.

Minister Henry observed persons were happy to meet the various Ministers and added that exercises such as these will definitely be continued in the future. Minister Henry noted that the government does not work in isolation and always wants to hear what the people have to say in order to address their concerns. Nevertheless, the Minister said that the people expressed their confidence in the government.

“We have got to continue the mandate that we started in 2015 and so it is all about the confidence in the people, I have seen the exuberance in lots of the persons who have reached out to me and so there is a sense of confidence that is prevailing” the Minister stated.

Minister within the Ministry of Public Infrastructure Annette Ferguson addressing a large crowd at the popular ‘Sweet Point’ bar said that the government over the last three years has done exceptionally well to foster development. The Minister urged them not to fall victim to the false promises being peddled by the Opposition.

“The country is on the way to development. Good roads, you can now drive from Georgetown to Kwakwani in four hours, I did it yesterday. You can now drive the streets of Georgetown with ease… in three years we have done significant improvement to this country and if you are really serious about continuity for development and progress, you have to make the right decision” the Minister stated.

Minister Cummings pointed out that the government intends to improve the quality of life for the people. The Minister said that while concerns were raised, people were also very happy with the transformation that is ongoing in the country.

The Minister who has responsibility for Public Health said: “they want to see more of us and they are happy for this venture, they like what is happening in the country, the improvement that has been made and they look forward to giving us their vote.”

The walkabout was described as a success by Minister within the Ministry of Social Protection Keith Scott. “The reception that we got was amazing. People were so happy to see us… right away they know that this government is here to stay and is here until 2020 and beyond 2020” Minister Scott said.
