Guyana, T&T deeping development, trade and economic ties
-PM, delegation to visit Guyana soon

President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali and Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Kamla Persad-Bissessar on Friday agreed on a development, trade and economic agenda aimed at deepening bilateral relations and advancing greater integration between the people and economies of both countries.
The head of state delivered the feature address on Friday at the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce’s Annual Business Meeting Outlook 2026/2027.
The Meeting is being held under the theme, ‘Strengthening Trinidad and Tobago-Guyana Energy collaboration in a New Regional Energy Era’ at the Hilton Hotel in Port of Spain.
During their discussions, it was agreed that PM Persad-Bissessar will undertake an official visit to Guyana, with a joint working group, featuring private sector participation from both countries, tasked with addressing development challenges and unlocking new opportunities.

The two leaders also discussed key areas, including food security and investment opportunities, energy integration, technology exchange, human capital development, and strengthening security.

They also agreed to establish a working group to remove trade barriers and improve competitiveness.

President Ali also thanked the Prime Minister for her strong support for Guyana’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, expressing appreciation on behalf of the people of Guyana.
