Minister Norton expresses condolences on the passing of Francis Ferreira

The Hon. Minister of Social Cohesion, Dr. George Norton wishes to express sincerest condolences to the relatives, friends and fans of Guyanese sculptor and artist, Francis Ferreira who recently passed away.

For approximately half of a century, Ferreira has done some amazing work in the area of visual arts, both at home and abroad. He was an Executive member of the Guyana United Artists (GUA) as well as the Founder of the Main Street Group of Artists.

Ferreira was a silver medallist for visual arts in Guyana who will forever be remembered for his art advocacy work which inspired a number of projects, including the establishment of the Main Street Group of Artist.

Ferreira was also a passionate farmer who has always been keen on the preservation and protection of the environment.

It is hoped that Ferreira’s family will be comforted by the fact that his work will continue to inspire generations of new artists.
