Press Statement

Contrary to claims made by the Institute for Action Against Discrimination (IFAAD), no vendor at the Georgetown Seawall has been dislocated. The Government’s priority has been to ensure compliance with regulations while minimizing disruption to the vendors’ livelihoods.

Permanent structures have been dismantled, and latrines removed in accordance with established guidelines. Additionally, all vendors have been aligned within the designated distance from the edge of the road as part of our ongoing exercise.

While the majority of vendors have complied promptly, the Government understands that some may require additional time to remove valuable items. We are accommodating these requests while ensuring that compliance is being strictly enforced across the board.

The exercise is ongoing, and we remain committed to working closely with the vendors to facilitate a smooth transition while upholding regulatory standards. We appreciate the cooperation of all parties involved in this process.
