Scores of residents of Black Bush Polder earlier today commended the Guyana Police Force for bringing the reign of terror by 3 bandits to an end.

The three men identified as Kelvin Shivgobin called ‘Kelly’, Ramnarine Jagmohan and Sewchand Sewdat called ‘One Eye Pappy’ were shot and killed following an exchange of gun fire with ranks of the Guyana Police Swat Unit and B Division Ranks in Johanna Black Bush Polder sometime Sunday afternoon.

B Division commander Paul Langevine said residents in Berbice can now sleep comfortably following the police shooting to death 3 bandits whom they believe were responsible for the recent spate of robberies in Berbice.

Langevine made the statement at the Port Mourant Hospital where the bandits were taken to be pronounced dead by doctors.

The commander has also confirmed an AR15 Rifle and three other weapons were found in the possession of the now dead men. He noted that while residents may at time feel the police is not acting or responding they have been hot on the heels of the men following the robbery at a Chinese Supermarket in Albion.

“People think the police not working but if residents are not safe, we do not sleep and we have been working behind the scenes gathering intelligence and tracking them all the time waiting for the right moment to strike”

At the scene residents of Black Bush Polder, which for the past few weeks has been the area that bandits target, were euphoric and high in praise for the police. Some could be heard shouting “kill them out man that good” and “Good job officer now we can get some good rest”.

Hundreds for residents converged at the scene, by the Johanna Bridge, eagerly awaiting the police exit of the backlands to get a glimpse of the men that have been wreaking havoc in their neigbourhood. Some blocked the path of the police vehicle hoping to peek into the tray only to realize the bodies were covered. Others followed the vehicle all the way to the Mibicuri Police station where the ranks briefly stopped before heading to the Port Mourant Hospital.

More details in a subsequent report.
