ACCM Officials call on PM Nagamootoo

DPI, Tuesday, March 26, 2019

Officials from the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM) paid a courtesy visit on Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo, last evening at his Official Residence.

Professor Raymond Fitzgerald and Dr. Anthony Peacock are here to conduct a site visit at Texila American University. The officials are here primarily to meet with the Government of Guyana, who have endorsed the Tripartite Agreement between the Guyana Government, Texila American University and Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine to discuss other ways of collaboration.

The ACCM in December 2018 accepted Texilaā€™s application for accreditation.

Prime Minister Nagamootoo assured the visiting ACCM team that the Government of Guyana is open to collaboration and will further discuss the areas highlighted during their meeting with the relevant ministries.

ACCM is a medical accreditation body whose commissioners are senior medical educators. The commission sees their work as a contribution to the global effort to ensure quality medical education. ACCM serves countries which do not have a medical accreditation body of its own. The Commission is independent of the countries it serves and of the schools it inspects and evaluates.
