Budget 2020 live broadcast
The Department of Public Information (DPI) notes that there has been an attempt to categorize its decision not to carry live broadcasts of presentations during the debate on the 2020 Budget as a censorship of the Parliamentary Opposition. This is totally untrue.
For the sake of clarity, the DPI has taken a decision to use its limited resources to provide technical support in the form of cameras for the Parliament Office’s online live-streaming of the Budget presentations.
This decision was taken to allow the Parliament Office to take the lead on the live-streaming of the debates while we provide the necessary technical support and to avoid duplication.
We hope that this clarification addresses any untruths and misrepresentations being peddled by those with sinister motives.
