Min of Labour to host two day OSH exhibition

April is recognised as Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) month, and this year, the Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning will hold a two-day OSH exhibition.

The event will incorporate a job fair intended to connect students and job seekers with employment opportunities.

This year’s theme, “Good psychosocial working environments: A pathway to thriving workers and strong organisations,” aligns with the global focus set by the International Labour Organisation for World Day for Safety and Health at Work, to be observed on 28 April 2026.

Assistant Chief Occupational Safety and Health Officer, Roydon Croal

On Monday, Assistant Chief Occupational Safety and Health Officer, Roydon Croal, told the Department of Public Information(DPI) that the OSH exhibition is scheduled for April 29 and 30 on Main Street and will feature between 40 and 50 exhibitors.

Additionally, the job fair component is expected to benefit students who are actively seeking employment. The officer said that exposing students to occupational safety practices early is critical as they prepare to enter the workforce.

The OSH exhibition forms part of a wider slate of activities for Occupational Safety and Health Month in April, including walks across Regions One to Ten.

The Ministry of Labour will also hold its annual safety and health walk on April 26, with an OSH symposium on April 28, to be hosted at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC).

These activities further support the government’s aim to strengthen workplace standards and promote safe working environments in key sectors such as construction and mining.

Additionally, ministries and the private sector are being encouraged to implement their own occupational safety activities.

“We’d like to invite corporate Guyana and all ministries to be part of the walk, the symposium, and the exhibition,” Croal stated.

OSH month is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of creating safe, healthy, and decent working conditions.
