Speaking to hundreds of Barticans at a well-attended meeting at the Bartica Community Centre Ground this evening, Prime Minister, Moses Nagamootoo, declared in song that he “ain’t weary yet”.
The Prime Minister was responding to an article in a daily newspaper which declared that “Naga gone”.
Prime Minister Nagamootoo said,” Naga ain’t gone and Naga ain’t going nowhere,” and that he will continue to serve Guyana.
The Prime Minister sang with enthusiastic accompaniment by the crowd:
“Moses ain’t weary yet, Moses ain’t weary yet, he been in it so long my Lord, but Moses ain’t weary yet.”
He also endorsed the presidency of Head of State, David Granger by also singing:
“David ain’t weary yet, David ain’t weary yet, he been in it so long my Lord, but David ain’t weary yet.”
Explaining why he switched from a white shirt, which he wore earlier in the day, to an olive shirt jack, he noted that he was “back in battle gear” because he is “back in the battle”.

Prime Minister Nagamootoo, in a fiery address, said that every Guyanese who is entitled to vote must be allowed to be registered to vote and anyone who is asking for this to be subverted or averted is “asking for trouble”.
We have sacrificed too much to place Guyana at the top of the world; the whole world respects Guyana – it would be detrimental for us to go back to what we had before.
The Prime Minister also spoke about the restoration of freedom of the press and the independence of the judiciary which were achieved under the Coalition Government, which was elected to office in 2015 after 23 years of PPP rule.
Minister of Finance, Winston Jordan, Minister of State, Dawn Hastings-Williams and Director-General, Joseph Harmon also spoke at the event which followed the Government Outreach and Cabinet Meeting held earlier in the day.
In his remarks, former Minister of State and Director-General Harmon spoke highly of the performance of Prime Minister Nagamootoo, declaring, to resounding applause, that Nagamootoo is “the best Prime Minister in Guyana for 27 years.”
