Region Two Deeds and Commercial Registry to be relocated -AG Nandlall
Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Hon. Mohabir Anil Nandlall, SC., today, announced that the Deeds and Commercial Registry in Pomeroon-Supenaam (Region Two) would soon have its own building.
This was disclosed following a visit to the Registry, which is located in a section of the Region’s High Court in Suddie.
“We need to get separate, physical facilities to accommodate the operations of the Deeds and Commercial Registration Authority,” he said, during a walkthrough of the offices.
The AG noted that there is need for the Registries to be relocated since it is a different entity from the Judiciary. The feedback from the staff also indicated that their accommodation is cramped.
“We will be moving to acquire independent premises in the near future,” he said.
The Attorney General encouraged the staff to share their concerns so they could be addressed. He also noted that the vacancies would be advertised and filled to ensure efficiency, and persons who are due for promotion would be elevated.
AG Nandlall reminded the staff that their principal objective is service to the people.
A building for a Deeds and Commercial Registry would also be established in Region Six, he said.
The Deeds and Commercial Registry is established to efficiently and expeditiously administer the laws enacted by Parliament affecting land, whether by way of Transport, Leases, Mortgages or any other alienation thereof. The entity also deals with laws relating to Trademarks, Patents and Designs, Geographical Indications, Copyrights, Trade Unions, Companies, Partnership, Business names, Powers of Attorney, Bills of Sale contracts and other deeds.
