Smooth process for finalisation of NIS contributions – Reg. 3 residents

― govt took its services to the region

DPI, Guyana, Sunday, April 28, 2019

Following a smooth process, several persons left satisfied at the National Insurance Scheme’s (NIS) booth, at the government outreach’ at the National Track and Field Centre, having had their pension matters successfully addressed

This is, after confirming that their NIS contributions were up to date as many of them would soon be eligible to receive their benefits.

Kenrick George, of Goed Intent, and Hazalene Thorne, from Blankenburg, were two of many who reaped the benefits of the outreach.

“I went to address my NIS contributions; it was up to date, and I got all the necessary information I needed,” Thorne told the Department of Public Information (DPI). She further added that the “process was smooth and hassle-free.”

As for George, he believes that coming to the outreach was the right move since he was facing some difficulty accessing the services. “When I was there at the office at Vreed-en -Hoop, they gave me a figure that I was not pleased with but then I came here, and I got through, so I am satisfied.”

Both George and Thorne commended the initiative by the government that ensures its services are available to the public by way of the outreach.

George said, “this is very good, people coming and getting the opportunity to highlight their issues; it is very good what the government is doing.” Thorne echoed similar sentiments stating that “it is a good initiative, at least persons could access services and the government is doing its best to assist people in whatever they need.”

The outreach is the sixth of its kind where all government services are taken to the people. Regions 1, 4, 5, 6 and 9 already benefitted from similar outreaches where thousands of citizens have received much-needed access to the government services.
