The Guyana Marketing Corporation’s (GMC) Local Agro-processors’ Exhibit, which is featuring several local businesses in Guyana each week, continues this week with the spotlight on Royal Food Products owned by own by John Mohabir.

At the ongoing exhibition being held in front of the Republic Bank at its Robb Street entrance, many persons have stopped to examine, sample and purchase the products on display. They have a wide array of condiments to choose from such as various pepper sauces, casareep, soya sauce, as well as all-purpose seasoning among others.

The representative of the Royal Products, Mark Lee, told the Department of Public Information (DPI) that the company has been in existence since 1988. He added that the initiative by the GMC has been beneficial.

“Thanks to the GMC, we are in partnership about five to six years now and I can tell you, it’s been a really good benefit to get our stuff out and create a market. It’s a very good initiative I think they are doing to promote local business, local products.”

Meanwhile, Kenyatto Layne, Crop Extension Officer attached to the GMC said the initiative is to raise awareness of local products available in the country.

“This initiative is to promote local foodstuff, being produced by local agro-processors and it gives them a chance to showcase and sell their products to the local public. Also, to raise the awareness of the Guyanese public to what is being produced in their country,” he explained.

According to Layne, the next business will be showcasing their products at the Georgetown Market Square as part of the Emancipation Day Celebration.
