Residents of Coomacka and surrounding villages in Region Ten were urged to hold the Government responsible for the commitments made in its manifesto.

Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Hon. Mohabir Anil Nandlall addresses residents at the Coomacka ballfield.

During a visit to the community on Thursday afternoon, Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Hon. Mohabir Anil Nandlall said citizens all across Guyana can expect a change in how the country is governed. He said the PPP/C Government Ministers and officials aim to be more accessible to residents in order to address their concerns.

“We will not remain in our offices in Georgetown but we will come to you in Linden and the four communities here, in the rivers, mines, villages, on the dams and in the fields to meet with you because that is the style of Government we practice and were trained to bring to this country.”

AG Nandlall said unlike the previous administration, the PPP Government is committed to ensuring all the promises made during the campaign trail are fulfilled.

“We came here to you with a manifesto and that manifesto we regard as a contract between you and us. I am here to tell you that you must hold us responsible for all the promises in that manifesto.”

Coomacka residents gathered at the ballfield to meet with Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Hon. Mohabir Anil Nandlall

The Attorney General reminded the residents that it was because of their unwavering support that the party won the March 2, 2020 General and Regional Elections.  The administration’s duty is to the people of Guyana, he said.

“We are in Government only to serve you and to deliver those promises,” he added.

During the interactive session, residents of Coomacka, Three Sisters, Nottinghamshire and Old England voiced about access to potable water, education, housing and internet connectivity and other challenges affecting them.

Minister Nandlall assured them that their concerns would be remitted to the relevant subject ministers for redress.

The engagement formed part of President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali’s Presidential outreach to Upper Demerara-Berbice (Region 10). Several Cabinet members fanned out across the Region to meet persons at the community level in keeping with the manifesto promise of continuous engagement as the Government partners with the people for development.
