―Semi-finalists for 2020 Soca, Chutney and Calypso competitions selected

Approximately twenty (20) of the thirty-four (34) entrants have advanced to the semi-finalist level for the 2020 Carib Soca Monarch competition.

Of those nominated 11 are newcomers to the competition.

Mash Coordinator Andrew Tyndall told the DPI that, this decision was made following an “intense three hours house judging session” over the weekend.

“We have received some top-notch entries which made our work much harder this year…but I also see these entries as a plus; especially to see the reigning monarchs go against competitors with great potential and that is what we expect every year,” he said.

Moving forward, six contestants will be eliminated at the Semi-Final which is scheduled for February 8, 2020, in the mining town of Linden. The remaining 14 will then be joined by the reigning, two-time Soca Monarch Brandon Harding at the Grand Final in Georgetown on February 15, 2020, to compete for the coveted title.

It was noted by the Mash Coordinator that Ansa McAl will once again support this competition
