Guyana is set to host its first Business-to-Business Trade Exhibition on September 19-22, 2018.  This event will create a platform for local export-ready businesses to engage and network with international buyers and investors.

Minister of Business, Dominic Gaskin.

The Guyana Trade and Investment Exhibition (GuyTIE), was officially launched today at the Marriott Hotel. The trade show is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Business, the Private Sector Associations in Guyana and the Caribbean Export Development Agency.

Minister of Business, Dominic Gaskin described GuyTIE as an improved model of GuyExpo designed to promote Guyana as an investment destination.

“We have been thinking for some time now, how we can improve the GuyExpo model. It is not that we have anything against GuyExpo, but I do not think it was achieving the outcomes we, as a government, were looking for,” Minister Gaskin said.

“It was successful in its own way. But we wanted a model that was more focused on matching exhibitors with potential international buyers and promoting exports,” he explained.

The Business Minister added the initiative is designed to increase sustainable private sector investment and increase value-added production, and exports locally. He emphasised, “Participating businesses must receive tangible long-term benefits, through interaction with international buyers attending the expo. They will also receive capacity development training to prepare them for the trade show participation.”

Caribbean Export Development Agency, Competitiveness and Export Promotion Senior Advisor, Damie Sinanan encouraged exhibitors and business owners to register with GuyTIE, as this is a first step to making an impression in the global market.

Businesses interested in participating in the exposition can now register through the Guyana Office for Investment.
