Minister within Ministry of Communities, Dawn Hastings-Williams.

“The President, in his own judgment removed me from the Ministry of Communities to work at the Ministry of Presidency. I agreed and accepted the position assigned to me, of course there will have some challenges but I am quite sure with His Excellency’s guidance along with the guidance of the other ministers, I will do well,” Minister Hastings-Williams explained.

After announcing the Cabinet change yesterday, President Granger explained that the position is part of a continuous process of re-balancing the government’s work which is designed to ensure efficiency is served during the delivery of services.

“It is a question of my own judgment and I have to continuously evaluate the workload of every Ministry…Minister Dawn Hastings-Williams coming into the Ministry of Presidency is a continuous process to re-balancing the government’s work,” the President explained.

He had expressed confidence in the Minister’s abilities whilst performing the duties she has been assigned, especially given her experience as a third-term Parliamentarian.

The minister will soon have the responsibility for oversight of the sections, which fall under the Presidential Secretariat. She will also be responsible for the administration of the National Endowment for Science and Technology (NEST) Programme as well as hinterland and rural relations.

Over the last two years, MoTP has had to assume responsibility for various areas of administration, including the environment and national security, which Minister Hastings-Williams will be assisting with.

Minister Hastings-Williams is slated to assume the position of Minister of Public Affairs with effect from September 01, 2017.
