DPI, Guyana, Tuesday, March 16, 2019
Minister within the Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Karen Cummings, on Tuesday afternoon, visited the Hogstyle/Lancaster area, where she met with scores of residents and reiterated the government’s plans to provide all Guyanese with the ‘good life’ while she listened to the concerns of residents.
The minister’s visit to the Corentyne Coast forms part of a massive ministerial fan-out exercise in East Berbice-Corentyne (Region 6).
Minister Cummings told a large gathering, for Guyana to have a brighter future and to be successful at the next General and Regional Elections, its citizens must promote unity.
“We need to work collectively towards achieving our objectives, our primary objective is to continue the work of the Coalition Government. The only way we can do that is by engaging our communities and continuously spreading the good messages of this administration. So as to ensure that our people in these communities vote for development, upliftment, prosperity and continued progress.”
The minister highlighted several major development projects and the progress undertaken in Region 6 since assuming office in 2015. Among those mentioned were the implementation of school buses and distributions of boats and bikes, which now allow thousands of children to pursue their education.
“Our government is the right government for Guyana… we have invested billions already and there is much more to come,” Minister Cummings emphasised.
She further urged residents to get registered with Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) and to ensure that all their documents are in order before the next General and Regional Elections.
While the government received commendations for work accomplished thus far, residents were also eager to lodge their concerns, most of which were centred on the condition of roads and cross streets. Minister Cummings assured that the matters raised will be taken to the relevant authorities which will be followed by a prompt intervention.
