DPI, Guyana, Friday, March 15, 2019
In the next three weeks, the ease of doing business in Parika will soon be a reality for residents of the Pomeroon-Supenaam Region as the Supenaam Stelling’s rehabilitation works would be completed.
During a visit to the stelling on Saturday, Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson was given an update on the project’s status by the contractors. The majority of the works such as the steel sheet pile revetment, washroom facilities and the construction of the promenade are completed.
In an invited comment, the Public Infrastructure Minister expressed his satisfaction with the progress made thus far.
“I am quite pleased, most of the work has been done to my expectations.”
The project caters for flood and erosion protection structures in critical sections and the implementation of infrastructural, architectural and landscaping enhancements through a contemporary spatial layout to improve the recreational experience.
The new stelling is set to boast modernised vending units, arrival and departure facilities for speedboat passengers, as well as boarding facilities which will cater for elderly persons and those living with disabilities. The new stelling will also have the capacity to moor a large number of boats.
Once completed, the project will be managed jointly by the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) and Good Hope-Pomona Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC).
