─Ramdihal gifted with laptop from Minister of Public Service

Chitra Ramdihal, the Cropper Primary School Student who tied for the top position in Region Six at the National Grade Six Examination (NGSA) was awarded a laptop from the Minister of Public Service Tabitha Sarabo-Halley on Friday, July 5 when she visited the young lady at her home.
The Minister congratulated the articulate and pleasant young lady and pledged the government’s support for her continued education if needed by the family.
Ramdihal, 11 of 144 Albion Front was overjoyed with the visit and became emotional when she was gifted the computer. She told the Minister it was something she needed. Young Chitra achieved 520 marks and was awarded a place a Queens College.
Her Mother Reshma Jabode, 40 was also emotional. “This is a pleasure; it’s an honour to have her [Minister Sarabo-Halley] here with us in our home. We are so happy when I heard the news I say to my father I am so happy my daughter has made me so proud”.
Speaking of her daughter’s achievement Jabode, a former teacher who served for over sixteen years said she is a proud mother and noted the importance of parental support. Jabode advised other parents to be involved at all levels of their child’s education, motivate and listen to them so they can develop in positive directions.
She explained at one point her daughter became overwhelmed with studies and wanted to give up. Importantly, Jabode said she did not reprimand her daughter, instead herself and Chitra’s teacher encouraged her and comforted her. “She sprung back up and said, “Mom don’t worry I am going do it,” Jabode recalled
She advises, “Teachers and parents, communication is essential. I am always at school finding out how I could help, what I can do. I communicate with all the teachers and I want all the other parents to do the same. That’s when we are going to know how our children are performing at school so we could help them in weak areas. Teachers alone cannot do it.”
Chitra who aspires to become a Lawyer said, over the past months she had to sacrifice her gadget and game time in her pursuit of achieving the best at the NGSA examinations. She noted, in the end, those sacrifices and long hours of studying paid off.
She said she will continue to work towards a career in the legal profession since she would like to help persons who are denied justice.
The young lady credits her success to God, her parents, sister and her teachers at Cropper Primary School.
