DPI, Guyana, Tuesday, April 30, 2019

The residents of West Watooka were left smiling this evening as Minister of Finance Winston Jordan made a commitment to provide $3.4MILLION for the community to complete its pavilion. Minister of Public Telecommunications Catherine Hughes also promised that she will work to establish an ICT Hub in the community.

Residents made a plea at the community meeting for assistance to complete the pavilion which they have commenced through self-help and completed the foundation. Residents applauded loudly as the ministers made their announcements in the Linden community.

Also raised were concerns relating to assistance for persons with disabilities, street lights, land titles and potable water for the West Watooka Hilltop area. Both ministers committed to addressing these issues by establishing a multi-sectoral team to analyse the issues.

The meeting is part of the seventh Government outreach which was conducted in Linden today.

The Cabinet meeting, chaired by President David Granger was held at the Watooka House.

Over a dozen community meetings are being held following the all-day outreach at the Wismar Market Square where all government ministries and agencies, such as Central Housing and Planning Authority and the Guyana Revenue Authority were present.
