The endorsement conducted in the Ministry of Communities Boardroom on Saturday morning was chaired by Regional Executive Officer, Region 8, Mitzy Campbell. The REO explained that the agreement will ensure the rehabilitation to roadways, upgrade of walking trails to ATV carriageway, widening of access roads and the removal of trees, stumps, roots and other works to facilitate the widening of these roads, proper drainage and also the mobilisation of necessary equipment and labour.

“When the Toshaos return to their respective villages, they will hold community meetings to inform other villagers of the project.  This initiative will serve as a means to create employment also for residents within these the villages since they will be doing the work that will see the transformation of their communities,” Campbell said.

Toshao of Chenapou, Edward Mc Garrell said that road maintenance will be done between Chenapou to Paramaktoi. “The [road] linkage between Chenapou to Paramaktoi is very important because for example, we have students attending Paramaktoi Secondary and their parents have to travel that road often.”

Toshao Gideon John of Paramakatoi village, Sub Region one, who also has responsibility for two satellite villages – Bamboo Creek and Bashville said upon his return to the village the main priority is to hold a meeting with the council members. He noted that the project will provide much-needed employment for some of the residents within the communities.
