84 ballot boxes completed on day 25 of recount

Eighty-four more ballot boxes were completed today as the recount of the March 2, General and Regional Elections reach day 25.

At the close of the day, Region Six saw 27 ballot boxes completed, Region Four completed 25 boxes, Region 10 saw 15, Region Nine saw 11 while Region Eight saw the completion of 6 boxes.

A total of 1,593 Statements of Recount (SOR) were tabulated for the General Elections, and 1,597 for the Regional.

This evening GECOM Commissioner Vincent Alexander disclosed that the Coalition has begun to provide evidence to the elections body on its objections to the fraudulent cases.

He noted that the names of 600 persons who are alleged to have voted but were not in the jurisdiction have been submitted.

Alexander stated that the Chairman of the elections body (retd) Justice Claudette Singh has written to the Chief Immigration Officer to look into the allegations.
