In keeping with its commitment made to residents of Bella Dam and Little Diamond to rehabilitate access bridges to the communities, Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson approached the National Assembly last week and secured supplementary allocations of approximately $41M to honour its obligations.

In his address to National Assembly the Public Infrastructure Minister declared, “we have these two bridges which need urgent repairs… If something goes wrong, thousands of people would be unable to traverse these roads to get to their homes. So, we are very pleased that the Ministry of Finance was able to accommodate this request”.

Minister Patterson also noted that his move to the National Assembly was in keeping with the Coalitions Government’s proactive approach to serving the Guyanese people.

According to the details of the National Assembly’s Supplementary Provision for 2019, the funds approved are to facilitate works on the damaged beams located at Bella Dam’s bridge, while prioritised works are to commence on the Little Diamond’s bridge.
