─ “Every life in our nation matters”

DPI, Guyana, Saturday, August 8, 2020

His Excellency, Mohamed Irfaan Ali, has assured that the security of the country is paramount since it is integral to a stable democracy.

The President, during his inauguration address at the National Cultural Centre (NCC), made it clear that:

“Every citizen, every home, every business place must feel safe from criminals and from crime.”

The Head of state said every Guyanese must breathe free from the stench of crime.

He committed that his administration will “strengthen the police force by providing it with the necessary tools it needs to keep our people safe.”

This will be done by training, equipping the Guyana Police Force (GPF) with modern equipment, adequate vehicles, and enhancing capacity for rapid response.

“Every life in our nation matters, and my government will ensure that every life is protected from harm. It is our duty and our responsibility, and we will work towards this,” President Ali assured.

Overlooking the security sector will be Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. Robeson Benn.

President Ali took the oath of office as Guyana’s 9th Executive President last Sunday, exactly five months after the General and Regional Elections were held back in March.
