‘Expect what we promise’ – Min.  Sharma at Region 5 outreach

DPI, Guyana, Thursday, April 25, 2019

Guyanese, particularly those residing in the Mahaica-Berbice Region can expect all the services the Coalition Government has promised.

Minister within the Ministry of Finance, Jaipaul Sharma speaks to a resident during the Region 5 outreach

Minister within the Ministry of Finance, Jaipaul Sharma said the administration has not reneged on its promise of ensuring a good life for all Guyanese. The minister spoke to the Department of Public Information (DPI) today, during the ‘government comes to you’ outreach in the region.

The massive outreach was held in the compound of the Regional Democratic Council in Fort Wellington.

He reminded that the government began the meetings with the public earlier this year in Region 9 (Upper Takatu-Upper Essequibo Region) and will continue until all regions are covered. The government has already met with residents in Regions 4 and 6.

“The advantage is for persons to come out here. We are easing the trouble of you coming to Georgetown taking into consideration the cost incurred and the times it will take to get there,” Minister Sharma told DPI.

He said the Ministry of Finance is service oriented with departments such as the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA), National Insurance Scheme (NIS), the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB), and the Accountant General (AG) Department. Other issues such as pension and public assistance can also be addressed by departments within the ministry as well as issues relating to tax payment.

“It is about the gamut of services that the government offers and the issues and expectations of people that the government must provide services that they are comfortable with. We are here as a team,” he said.
