“Together we will be able to realise major achievements” was the message that Minister within the Ministry of Health, Dr. Karen Cummings left with the residents of Mabaruma and surrounding communities when she addressed them on the eve of the nation’s 49th Republic Anniversary.

“Let’s fashion a nation, reflective of our motto in mind…We have to build teams from which major benefits are derived,” the Minister told the gathering noting that “the age-old adage still remains true today, many hands make successful work.”

She urged the residents in the district to “Let the cohesion within this region, result in harmony and a united commitment towards regional development.”

Outlining the achievements of the Coalition Government after being in office just under four years, the Minister expressed the views that “a wave of positives has taken over this district.”

“Within Mabaruma, everywhere you look, you can see the transformation, in living colour,” Minister Cummings said and pointed out, that it is the APNU+AFC Government that is funding these developments.

Through economic reforms and appropriate policies, institutional building and government, the Minister observed that a “vision of balance and visible growth,” is being achieved in the District and further in the region.

She assured that more developments are on cards as the Coalition Government is working assiduously to close the gaps in public infrastructure, health and education among others that currently exist between the Hinterland and Coastland.

“Let’s put our political differences and unite and celebrate our 49th anniversary as a republic as Guyanese and when our celebrations are over. Let us remain, a united people, working together for the betterment of this region and ultimately all of Guyana,” the Minister urged.

Since taking office in May 2015 the Coalition Government has realised the following transformational projects in Mabaruma: designating Mabaruma a town; commissioning of Radio Mabaruma; the rehabilitation of the road network and the Mabaruma Recreational Park; the construction of the concrete tarmac at the North West Secondary School, tarmac and stalls at Kumaka and the rehabilitation of Mabaruma Town Hall,
