Funds granted for Early Childhood Education Programme

The supplementary provision for the Early Childhood Education project was unanimously approved by the National Assembly at its 98th Sitting.

The sum of $4,882,922 was allocated for the provision of additional inflows under the World Bank Technical Assistance to finance activities associated with the project’s closure, including closing ceremony which was held on September 19, 2018.

The Early Childhood Education programme was a project under the Ministry of Education Nursery Education and was birthed out of intense discussions by early childhood educators and relevant officials. Its objective was to improve emergent literacy and numeracy outcomes for children at the nursery level and primary Grade one in hinterland regions and targeted remote riverine areas.

It was dubbed as impactful as it improved early childhood development particularly for communities out of Georgetown. The project has been effective through the delivery of resource learning kits which have also been deemed as impressive and impactful.
