“Health and Education Facilities on the front burner” – RC Gordon Bradford.

– Four schools to be constructed in Bartica for 2019

– New Health Centre to be constructed at Puruni

– Doctor’s Quarters to be commissioned at Kamarang

DPI, Guyana, Thursday, June 20, 2019.

In an interview with the Department of Public Information, Regional Chairman of Region 7, Gordon Bradford mentioned that there are several Infrastructural development projects slated for the township. He emphasised that under the APNU+AFC Government Bartica has made tremendous strides in the health and education sectors.

“This year alone, we are constructing four schools, two in the Upper Mazaruni, one in Upper Cuyuni and one in Bartica. In Bartica, for the first time we will be constructing a Special Needs School to provide good services to less fortunate children,” Bradford stated.

He further explained that for the first time a brand-new Primary School will be constructed in Eterinbang, which will offer services to other neighbouring communities.

“Other schools will be constructed in Kamarang and Parima, with the capacity to hold more than 300 children, the aim is to ensure that our youths receive their education just as the children in other regions. We will not be stopping there, because when the schools are completed and commissioned, we will work for them to be fully technologized in keeping with the times,” Bradford explained.

In the Health sector, the Regional Chairman stated that services will be taken to the people which will help to reduce the time and cost incurred when residents travel great distances to access healthcare services.

“We are constructing new health centres; there will be one in Puruni, which is the second largest populated community to Bartica, this community is also the hotbed for Malaria. This health centre will be much needed to fight this disease,” he reasoned.

Chairman Bradford said the 2019’s Budget has made it possible for the extension of the Kamarang Hospital, he added that when the addition is completed, the hospital will be equipped with an x-ray machine among other vital medical equipment.

In Kamarang we will also be looking to get a Doctor’s Quarter, with the hope for the placement of a paediatrician to better attend to the children in that area and to add to that we also constructed Doctor’s Quarters in six other neighbouring communities,” Bradford raised.

The Regional Chairman was involved in the planning and execution of the recently held ‘Government Comes to You’ outreach held in the township of Bartica on June 18-19. This exercise forms part of the government’s mandate to engage the residents of the various communities whilst bringing its much-needed services to them.
