Health Ministry honors Auxiliary Staff

As International Women’s Day was observed today, women across Guyana were given recognition regardless of stature, careers or race.

At the Ministry of Public Health, Minister Lawrence and her team showed appreciation to all the woman working in her ministry. The minister spent her day visiting various departments to deliver words of sincere appreciation and encouragement to her female employees.

Alongside Minister Lawrence, were Minister within the Ministry, Dr. Karen Cummings and Permanent Secretary, Dr. Collette Adams.

The day’s celebration concluded with a programme that was specially coordinated to honour the women in the ancillary team of the Ministry and the Maternal and Child Health Department.

“It is very often that these simple but important persons in our various working environments are overlooked. I want us to remember these very women must be recognised not only on IWD [International Women’s Day] but they must be recognised at all times,” Minister Lawrence said.

The women were entertained with an inspirational song entitled, “Fight Song” sung by Romichelle Brummel who moved many in the audience to tears. The women were encouraged to relinquish all that held them back and to share their innate gifts with the world with the world.

The curtains for the event closed with a distribution of tokens by Minister Lawrence.
