H&L Agro, APSOL sign agreement for quality inputs to promote sustainable agriculture
An agreement was inked by Agricultural & Public Health Solutions (APSOL) and H&L Agro, a Jamaican company, to further develop and sustain the agricultural sector in Guyana.
The agreement was signed at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, Liliendaal during the Agri-Investment Forum and Expo, on Sunday.
Through the cooperation, APSOL will now distribute H&L goods, such as potting soil, which it will supply to the market in Guyana.
For farmers and plant enthusiasts, APSOL offers seedlings, seeds, pesticides, and specialised agricultural assistance.
In order to enhance energy efficiency, agricultural sustainability, food security and safety, and the advancement of the agricultural sector, H&L Agro and APSOL support Guyana’s strategic programme and Vision 25 by 2025.
During remarks, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (NAREI), Jagnarine Singh underscored that government will support the two companies, by providing the necessary assistance.
Singh further commended the companies for embarking on the significant partnership and added, “two companies are coming together by signing a partnership, where we can share a lot of experience. They are making it very strong in agriculture too. And I hope that this partnership will go from strength to strength.”
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) of H&L Group, Olive Downer Walsh highlighted that partnership is integral to the company.
“It is not going to be any different in Guyana. It is not just about getting the products sold. It is about how we are going to work together, as we seek to drive that 25 by 2025 matrix that the president spoke about. We have to get the efficiencies and the resilience that are needed there,” Walsh noted,
Meanwhile, Managing Director of APSOL, Alvin Parag said given the degree of abundance in Guyana and the Caribbean, it is imperative to manage this abundance sustainably, so that future generations can benefit.
“It is our responsibility to this nation to offer products that we can feel safe…All of our activities are going to be geared towards this sustainable aspect and align to the vision of our president,” Parag stated.
Notably, job opportunities in Guyana will be created to help educate customers, farmers in particular, about how to use the items.
