DPI, Guyana, Friday, June 14, 2019

An inquiry into the purported dismissal of three employees from the Department of Public Service will commence on Monday, June 17, 2019. This was disclosed by Director-General of the Ministry of the Presidency, Joseph Harmon, at Friday’s post-Cabinet Press Briefing.

The employees, who were allegedly dismissed by Public Service Minister, Tabitha Sarabo-Halley, are contracted employees, the Director-General explained. Nevertheless, he stated that “they have now been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the inquiry which will start on Monday.”

The employees affected are the Principal Personnel Officer, the Senior Personnel Officer and the Chief Accountant of the Department of Public Service.

The Department of Public Service is currently undergoing readjustments to improve its efficiency and responsiveness.
