Inter Caribbean Maritime Transport donates cement to CDC for Region Nine relief efforts

The Inter Caribbean Maritime Transport Incorporated on Wednesday donated one sling (40 sacks) of cement to the Civil Defence Commission (CDC) to aid relief efforts in Region Nine.

CDC Director General, Lieutenant Colonel Kester Craig received the donation from the company’s CEO, Mr. Dimitri Gabriel at the CDC headquarters on Thomas Lands.

Mr. Gabriel said on reading of the floods in Region Nine, he felt compelled to assist and donated the items as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.  He pledged to donate another 40 sacks of cement to the CDC for further relief efforts.

The CDC head expressed sincere gratitude for the donation and indicated that it is very timely. Lt. Colonel Craig explained that the cement would be transported to the Region and handed over to the Regional Democratic Council, which will distribute the material to households most in need.

Currently, several parts of Region Nine are experiencing flooding due to consistent rains. The CDC, in tandem with regional authorities, is monitoring the areas and providing support where necessary.
