Inter-Ministerial visit paid to Beyonce Ross and family

On Monday, June 4, 2018, an inter-ministerial team visit was made to the home of 15 year-old athlete Beyonce Ross who has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. The fourth form student of Lower Corentyne Secondary School is a three-time junior gold medallist in cycling at the National Schools’ Championships.

Visiting the teen were Minister of Education, Hon. Nicolette Henry, Minister of Social Cohesion, Hon. Dr. George Norton, Dr. Oneka Scott MD, of the Ministry of Public Health’s Adolescent Health Unit and other senior officials within the various Ministries.

The purpose of the visit was to grasp a better understanding of her medical condition and to ascertain what intervention (s) would be necessary.

As part of the visit Medical, dietary and hygienic supplies were also handed-over to the child’s parents to assist with her care. According to Dr.  Scott the Ministry of Public Health promises to maintain contact with the parents of the child and offer assistance.
