Mashramani represents our oneness as a people – Min. Patterson

As the residents of Kwakwani, Region Ten prepared to celebrate Guyana’s 49th Republic Anniversary, they were reminded that the celebration of Mashramani represents our oneness as a people.

This pronouncement was made by Minister of Public Infrastructure David Patterson while delivering the feature address at the region’s flag-raising ceremony on Friday evening.

“This is a time when as a people we strive to showcase our rich cultural diversity, to be captivated by folklore, to enjoy the melodious sounds of Tassa drums, Steel pan, Flute, Calypso and the all-time favourite of our young people during this season Soca music,” he said.

The Public Infrastructure Minister highlighted that there are several projects in the pipeline which will enhance the lives of all Guyanese.

“Under my Ministry, Kwakwani is expected to benefit from the installation of solar photovoltaic grids, this is anticipated to supply Kwakwani with reliable power supply for twenty-four hours.”

He also disclosed that the “Smart Classroom” initiative, which is the brainchild of the Ministry of Education, will be implemented in schools within the community of Kwakwani for the new term.

The annual flag raising ceremony was attended by residents and officials of the community who witnessed an evening was filled with a showcase of local talent.

The official proceedings concluded with the Golden Arrowhead being hoisted as those in attendance stood proudly singing the National Anthem.
