Message of Condolence by His Excellency, Brigadier David Granger, President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana on the passing of Mr. Ranwell Jordan JP
Georgetown, Guyana –(August 10, 2018) His Excellency David Granger, President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana extends heartfelt condolences at the passing of former Mayor and councillor of the Georgetown Mayor and Town Council, Mr. Ranwell Jordan JP.
Ranwell Jordan was born on July 29, 1939 at Hopetown Village, West Coast Berbice. He was the son of Alphonso and Hannahlene Jordan.
A Justice of the Peace and Commissioner of Oaths, Mr. Jordan lived a life of service to his community and the city of Georgetown. On September 5, 1994, he was sworn-in as a member of the Georgetown municipality. Mr. Jordan was elected to serve as Mayor of the City of Georgetown between 1995- 1996, and was the Council’s representative on the Central Housing and Planning Authority Board and the Guyana Cricket Board. He also served on the Municipality’s International Relations and Works Committees.
He was also a long serving member and stalwart of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) and an active member of the Agricola/Meadowbrook PNCR Group. For his long service and dedication to the PNCR, Mr. Jordan was awarded the 60th Anniversary Medal at the Party’s Special Congress in October 2017.
His Excellency, President David Granger extends heartfelt sympathy to the children Renwick, Kurt, Evangeline and Collette Jordan, seven grandchildren and other relatives and friends of the late Ranwell Jordan.
