NA Mayor receives key from Mayor of Stonecrest, Georgia
─ US Mayor continues visit to local counterparts

The New Amsterdam Mayor and Town Council on Monday welcomed the serving Mayor of Stonecrest, Georgia, USA, Jason Lary Snr. Just recently, Mayor Lary visited the Mayor of Georgetown, Patricia Chase-Green.
In New Amsterdam, the Mayor of Stonecrest delivered a similar message to the one he during his visit to the Georgetown Town Council. Mayor Lary noted that there are three keys which are important to ensuring communities managed effectively; these are the exchange of political, economic and cultural ideas.
He said if those three keys are truly considered, then “it will change your future forever.” The US Mayor then advised those in attendance to “focus and concentrate” on the three areas.
The Mayor of Stone Crest also handed over a key to his City to Mayor Heywood, along with a City pin.
The timely visit by the Mayor and his team was acknowledged by Mayor Heywood who noted that she will continue to work toward upholding their twinned status.
Winifred Heywood is the 66th Mayor of New Amsterdam, and the second woman to hold the post. The Town will be celebrating its 127th anniversary in September.
Also, in attendance were: Deputy-Mayor of New Amsterdam Compton Grant, Town Clerk of New Amsterdam Sharon Alexander, first female Mayor of New Amsterdam Barbara Pilgrim, Deputy Regional Executive Officer Region Six, Claude Henry, and President of the Berbice Chamber of Commerce Ryan Alexander.
