Old age pension to increase to $25,000
– from January 1st, 2021
Effective from January, 2021 old age pension will be $25, 000 per month. His Excellency, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali announced the increase this afternoon, during a press Conference at the Arthur Chung Convention Center (ACCC).
The changes will be made possible through an Emergency Budget which will address people’s welfare, issues affecting the community, businesses and the economy.
Currently the seniors are receiving $20,500 per month.
President Ali disclosed that from January 1st, 2021 pensioners will receive free water as 2021 breaks. This particular measure, the President noted, is reverting to the system that was in place prior to 2014.
