PAHO/WHO delivers again to COVID-19 fight

On Wednesday, August 12, the Ministry of Health received a sizeable donation of protective equipment and other items needed to aid the health sector in the fight against COVID-19.

The PAHO/WHO country office donated the equipment in a bid to protect frontline healthcare workers during the pandemic.

Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Frank Anthony, said this shows that there is a commitment to alleviate the impact of the pandemic in Guyana.

PAHO/WHO Representative, Dr. William Adu Krow handed over the items to the Health Minister while committing to 30,000 additional testing kits and ventilators which will increase capacity to test and treat COVID-19.

Additional equipment will be donated to assist patients’ recovery. The handover of these items took place at the Supplies Chain Management Unit in Diamond, EBD.
