Public Notice: Correct use of face masks

MOPH, Sunday, March 15, 2020

The Ministry of Public Health wishes to inform the general public of the proper use of face/medical masks.

Firstly, a medical mask is not required for members of the public who do not have respiratory illness symptoms.

If you are healthy, you need only to wear a mask if you are taking care of a person with suspected COVID-19 infection.

Wear a mask if you are coughing or sneezing constantly.

Masks are only effective when used in combination with frequent hand cleaning with alcohol-based hand rub or washing with soap and water.

If there is no need for a person to wear a face mask then it is advised that persons should desist from doing so.

For persons who feel the need to wear face masks, be cognizant of the fact that these are disposable and must be disposed of it properly after use.
