Acting on information received, a tactical team led by ‘B’ Divisional Commander Senior Superintendent Edmond Cooper swooped down at the location and apprehended the fugitive without any incident.
Dyal, 23, is the third of three prisoners to have escaped the from the Lusignan Holding Bay, on the East Coast Demerara on October 15 by scaling the wall.
The other two escapees Dexroy Pollard and Travis Evans are back in police custody after having been recaptured. Murder accused, Travis Evans, age 23 of C field Sophia was the first to be recaptured. He was apprehended at the Linden Soesdyke Junction on October 19. Dexroy Pollard was caught on November 1, by a public-spirited citizen at Free and Easy on the West Bank of Demerara.
Since the last two jailbreaks at the Camp Street Prison and at Lusignan Holding Bay, the government has taken all necessary steps to recapture those who escaped. All escapees from the Camp Street break were either recaptured or killed. However, Cobena Stephens a.k.a. OJ and Paul Goriah, who escaped from the Lusignan Prison, remain on the run.
Nevertheless, the government is doing everything necessary to ensure no more escapes occur, including the construction of another prison in the compound of the Mazaruni Prison to address overcrowding at the prisons in Region Four.
