Caring for the patients can be done in various ways, and it is said that putting a smile on someone’s face is leaving an indelible print that will make the world a better place.

The doctors, nurses and staff of the Leonora Comprehensive Diagnostic and Treatment Centre showered their patients with care during the last week of June as they observed Pharmacy Week 2019.  Throughout the week, all the patients were treated with delicious healthy snacks, supplements and vitamins.

In addition to the healthy snacks, supplements and vitamins, 15 seniors were the recipients of food hampers consisting of healthy food items for themselves and their families.

Sukranie Indra, one of the recipients of a hamper, praised the donors for their kind gesture and encouraged the staff at Leonora Hospital to continue making their patients happy.

According to Hospital Administrator Kevin Reddy, the gesture is the first of its kind at the medical institution and is expected to continue to improve the staff-patient relationship.

“We have to be creative in our approach to strengthening the staff-to-patient relationship in our medical facilities, and I believe one way of doing it is to have regular engagements other than just medical. The hospital must not be viewed as a place for the sick alone but also a place where one can feel comfortable and always wear a smile. Persons must be encouraged to visit hospitals for check-ups even if they feel strong and we at Leonora will facilitate,” Reddy said.

Kevin Reddy further stated that notwithstanding the late celebration of Pharmacy Week 2019, several other activities are planned for the hospital primarily to improve the way services are delivered to the patients.

Pharmacy Week 2019 was observed under the theme, ‘Eat Healthy, Live Longer, and Be Stronger’.
