Solar Power restored at Port Kaituma Hospital

A solar-powered system has been restored at the Port Kaituma Hospital after being dysfunctional for several years.

The Regional Electrical Engineer, Fredrick Cort along with an engineer from the Guyana Defence Force, Major Nurse, visited the Port Kaituma health facility and carried out rehabilitative works to the solar system; restoring solar-powered electricity to the health facility.

Cort explained that the solar system has the capacity to provide adequate electricity allowing full function of cold storage units, and other electrical appliances as well as the distribution of electricity to the Malaria Department and two apartments within its compound.

He also stated that the system will be functional on a daily basis while the main power supply at Port Kaituma is not operational.
