Minister of Social Protection, Amna Ally and her team greeted and interacted with the residents of the community after which they gathered at the New Silver City Secondary School, where they were given the opportunity to raise a number of concerns affecting them.

The school’s auditorium was filled with more than 100 residents, who commended the government for taking the time to visit individual communities.

“We are very appreciative for this ministerial outreach, many of our issues were raise and addressed, there is nothing better than to get the privilege to speak to our country’s Government Ministers on a one on one forum,” one resident stated.

Minister Ally said the government has embarked on a historic activity which is bringing the Government to the people throughout the ten administrative regions.

“During the month of May, we intend to go to Regions 2 and 7, so taking our services as a government to the people does not end here. We are here to hear from you to offer the necessary solution,” she said.

The Administration has worked to provide for its people through improved roads, water supply, education, economic power and infrastructure, Minister Ally emphasised.

She noted, “we have seen in the education system a change, that brought about the David Granger programmes which provided transportation for the school children within several regions.”

The Social Protection Minister then assured the residents that the Government will remain confident and is prepared to go to the polls in 2020 and be victorious. She stressed that the people of Guyana deserve the ‘good life’, a major priority for the Government.

Other concerns the residents raised included assistance for single mothers, the reckless usage of the roads and NIS Contributions.

Minister Ally committed to having all the issues addresses expeditiously.
